The Feed

Sportsbet's "The Feed" is a feature within the Sportsbet app that acts like a social media platform for betting enthusiasts. It allows users to view, share, and copy bets from other punters.

I was given the responsibility of designing several enhancements for The Feed, aiming to boost the number of bets copied by users.

User research revealed that navigating the interface was cumbersome and confusing for users. Previously, The Feed featured three rows of navigation, allowing users to search, access their profiles, and switch between market categories and events. This multi-tiered navigation was difficult for users to interpret and was often ignored. Additionally, each row had its own scrolling behaviour, which became jarring when multiple scrolling behaviours occurred simultaneously. To address this, I streamlined the navigation into two rows and reduced visual noise to declutter the navigational tabs.

To compensate for the removal of the third row of navigation, I integrated the market events into a new level of navigation within the market category tabs (e.g., Racing and Sports). This reorganisation simplifies the interface, making it more intuitive for users. By consolidating navigation, users can more easily find and access market events, enhancing their overall experience and reducing cognitive load.

A new feature added to The Feed allows users to sort the bets displayed in their feed. I designed the sorting entry point as a floating action button, providing a clear visual cue. The button's lower screen placement ensures easy access for one-handed use on mobile devices. To prevent it from obstructing content, the button hides while scrolling.

Another addition to The Feed was the introduction of "Feed Awards." These awards highlight user achievements while engaging with the Feed, such as betting win streaks, significant betting wins, bets that were highly copied by other users, rapid follower growth, and being among the top 10% of most-followed users.
